Forward Deployed Engineer

Remote Engineering Full-time 9am to 6pm ET

About Target Dial

Target Dial builds AI voice agents for business. We help companies deploy intelligent voice agents that call, converse, and convert, in any language, around the clock. From reception and scheduling to lead qualification and support, our agents handle the conversations so the team does not have to.

Our agents have handled over 1,000,000 calls, saved clients more than $10,000,000, and booked 15,000+ meetings across 20+ languages. We are a small team that ships fast and stays close to the customer.

The role

You are the person who makes our voice agents actually sound good and actually work for real customers. As a Forward Deployed Engineer you sit at the intersection of our product and our customers.

Your job is to design, build, and iterate the agents and the flows behind them, so each one is sharper, more natural, and more effective for its use case. You work closely with customers to understand their goals, build their agent, test real conversations, and fix what breaks. You own the outcome from the first call to live, and you keep owning it once the phone is ringing.

What you'll do

  • Design, write, and iterate the prompts and conversation flows that power our voice agents across industries like home services, dental, real estate, and finance.
  • Listen to real call recordings, find where an agent fails, and fix it.
  • Build the agent flows and call pathways for new customer deployments.
  • Onboard new customers end to end: understand their use case, set up their agent, and get it live.
  • Build the customer-facing pages, intake forms, and dashboards around each deployment.
  • Red-team agents: try to break them, find the edge cases, and make them bulletproof.
  • Test agents across languages and accents so they hold up with real callers.
  • Feed insights back to product. You will see what customers need before anyone else does.

What we're looking for

Must have

  • Available 9am to 6pm Eastern Time (ET).
  • In your final year of university or already graduated.
  • You have spent serious time building with LLMs like Claude or ChatGPT, not casually, but to actually build or solve something.
  • You are obsessive about language. You notice when a sentence sounds off, robotic, or unclear.
  • You can hold the customer's perspective and the end caller's perspective at the same time.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and can make decisions without a full playbook.
  • You can build. Comfortable enough with code to ship a script, a page, or an automation to make something work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English.

Good to have

  • You have tinkered with voice AI or conversational AI tools.
  • You have built something real: a small automation, a chatbot, a no-code workflow, anything.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role, even informally (sales, support, intern, freelance).
  • Familiarity with how LLMs work under the hood: context windows, temperature, hallucinations.

Why Target Dial

  • A small team moving fast in a market that is just taking off.
  • Direct access to the founders and the product. Your work visibly ships.
  • New team members work with real customers from week one, not from the sidelines.
  • You build a rare, high-value skill set at the intersection of AI, product, and customer success.
  • Competitive compensation, set to your experience.
  • Remote, working US hours.
